The Institute for Rational Counseling utilizes the theory of rational emotive behavioral therapy introduced to the world by Albert Ellis. The core principles of this theory are to work towards understanding and changing the way one thinks and reacts to adversity in all its forms. Ellis’ theory states that “We are not victims of misfortune so much as victims of our rigid and extreme attitudes we hold towards what other people do to us and what
fate throws our way.” Although we cannot control everything around us, we can control our thoughts and actions when difficult problems arise that produce a disturbance in our psyche. We believe that every individual has some degree of emotional choice in how they react to hardship.
We offer telehealth therapy sessions to existing and new clients. Due to the recent developments, insurance companies are now covering Teletherapy and video psychotherapy.
